If you were going to run a motorized corn feeder with the hopes of doing a post-season inventory of deer in the area, where would be the ideal place to put a feeder? The feeder that I have is meant to be hung from a tree, so it will be about 20 ft up in the air out of sight of deer and trespassers. It's a 30 gallon feeder with 200lb capacity and a motor that can be set to feed up to 6 times a day. My options for locating the feeder on this leased property are:
- Near a small food plot
- Near a huge field where the deer eat clover
- Near one of several known bedding areas
- Near one of many deer "highways" running through mature pine woods
- In or near some hardwood bottoms (there are no acorns)
I have thought about it a lot and I have no idea where the best place would be to hang this thing to maximize the likelihood of the deer visiting it during the winter.
