Federal #7

Anyone tried the #7 shot? I have heard the carry the downrange energy of a #5. If thats true these should be real deadly. Where could I buy some?

Never heard of federal #7 but do shoot the hevi #7 and really like them

Hevi shot #7's are the cats meow. I know the Federal are heavier than lead as well but not sure what differences they have from Hevi.

I believe the federals have the Flight control wads. Not sure if this is good or bad.

They heavy weights are actually "heavier" then hevi13. I thought that's what you were talking about but didn't know they made a #7.

I have heard they are sweet but most don't use them because of the flight controlled wad system. If you shoot a choke that slows the wad then you prob won't get very good results.

I was checking the prices on cheaper than dirt.com 24.95$ for five I still think they might be worth a try. #7 shot will put alot of pellets downrange.

I do not shoot them but here is some useful information for those that are interested. The Federal Heavyweight shot is 33% more dense than lead. Lead shot is 11.3 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm^3), hevi-13 is 13 and these Federals are 15. If you can get them to pattern good in your gun, they ought to pack a helluva punch when they make contact with the unlucky gobbler.

# of pellets will vary based on ounces of shot in the shell. and this depends on shell size (3, 3.5, etc).

Here are # of pellets for the #7 Fed HW based on ounces of shot in each single shell.

1.5 oz of #7 shot = 326 #7 pellets, 1.625 = 353, 1.75 = 380, 1.875 = 407, and 2 oz of #7 shot = 435 #7 pellets.

comparatively speaking, 2 oz of 7's will have more pellets than 2 oz of 5's.
