Federal 209 primers?

Depends on what powder you're using. If it's Blackhorn 209 you will need Federal 209A or CCI 209M primers, not any of those designed for muzzleloaders. If you're using any of the other black powder substitutes like Pyrodex or 777 for example, you can use any 209 primer and probably won't be able to tell much, if any, difference. 777 pellets are sugar based to hold their shape and will leave a crud ring in front of the breech plug where it ignites because some of the sugar "caramelizes" at ignition. Hotter 209 primers make this ring a little worse.

@THE DUKE according to their website, academy in Cookeville tn has the Winchester triple seven 209 primers. I have used the federal 209 primers from walmart with Pyrodex pellets and also with white hot pellets and haven't had any trouble with them.

I have used about everything and no problems with any of them except the crud ring sucks enough I bought a smokeless muzzle loader
