Fed up with the Muzzleloader!

I have a Traditions Pursuit and I have missed 3 deer in 2 days! I hit a limb on an 8 pt and missed a couple of does at about 80-100 yrds. After the 1st clean shot this thing flys bullets. Anyone else have this experience with the Traditions Pursuit break open?

If you're using pyrodex,triple 7, american pioneer, you need to swab the bore clean in between shots otherwise it can just sling your bullets all over the place.

What bullet, powder ( and charge), primers are you using?

You must hunt with it the same you way sighted it in. If you sighted it in with a fouled barrel, cleaning patch with a dry patch following between shots, then you must hunt with it that way. If you sighted it in with a clean barrel for every shot, then you must hunt with a clean barrel. I hunt with a fouled barrel. After cleaning, I shoot a round to foul the barrel, TC Cleaning Patch followed by a dry patch, then reload it. Then I go hunting. A clean barrel will have a different point of impact than the fouled one with a muzzleloader....most of the time.

I am shooting a 350gr Hornady FPB over 100 Triple 7 pellets.

Hornady, Triple 7 (2 pellets, Winchester primers. I have never had good luck with a muzzleloader. I cleaned the barrel after I got in and shot and hit the bullseye, fired the next shot and was 6" low but dead center. Does anyone have a recommendation on a muzzleloader thats in the $299-$399 range? I can't afford an encore.

Sounds like you are zeroed on a clean barrel. Try running a wet patch and then a dry one after the first shot from a clean barrel. It should be close to your first with a clean barrel.

I use that same combo and i can relate to what you are saying. Love the fpb's but how you clean or dont or swab or dont def. makes a diff in how and where it shoots.

I bought CVa Wolf w/3x9x32 Knonous scope with case for 299.00 at Bass Pro this year. I like the screw in-out breech plug easy cleaning. Shoots good...

For consistencies sake, try cleaning before every shot. Make every shot count so you have no need for a follow up. Also make sure you are getting ALL of the lube out of the barrel before loading and shooting.

That's how my encore shot, that's why I zeroed it with a fouled barrel when using 777. 1st shot from a clean barrel was 7" high and a couple to the side, next shot with a fouled barrel was dead center. Switch to blackhorn and every shot is the same and no need to run any patches between shots, just a waste of time and patches.
