Magblends

Straight 7s were my fav for along time but issues with different lots and availability moved me to magblends. I like the heavyweights but don't wanna deal with the flight control wad and availability of those can be an iasue

If you're just shooting a factory choke (non-vented), I believe the absolute best turkey loads are the Federal Heavyweights in #7 size shot. I'm even thinking about shedding my Indian Creek turkey choke on one gun just so I can shoot Federal Heavyweights.

But generally speaking, and since most after-market turkey chokes are vented or "ported", the most consistent performer is probably the H13 Magnum Blends (blending 5,6, & 7 HTL shot).

IF you're using a 20 gauge, Federal has the 20-gauge market cornered, since they offer a 1 1/2-ounce load of their "heavyweights" in #7. It's a lot more shot and a lot more energy per pellet than anything else out there (commercially speaking).

It's not limited to ported, it's any wad catching system or any choke designed to slow it down or strip it

I'm shooting a Indian creek, in my benelli sbe2. So there are certain wads that should not be shot out of a ported or slotted choke? Which do I avoid ?

The old Hevi Shot Premier.....green shell gold writing....Down to my last few....3in 5 shot...never had one flop after being shot with these. Killed them at 45 yards and fold like a dishrag. Sure wish I could find some somewhere.

Federal flight control wad is the only one

10 gauge

Handloads- 2.5 oz of TSS #8
Factory - federal heavyweight #7
Or magblends

12 gauge 3 or 3.5- magblends or heavy 6's

3.5 inch Hevi-13 straight 6's followed very closely by Magblends. I get almost identical numbers from both.

That was my favorite load before I started shooting magblends. Word of advice if you ever shoot the magblends at 40 yards, at a turkey head target you will not go back. Don't do it!

yeah I would much rather buy a summit than some expensive ammo... the summit will last for years and I will actually be comfortable
