I fish almost exclusivly for smallmouth now a days.Ever since I took my first trip to Dale Hollow.Man can find anything more fun,or beautiful to catch.Fish mostly there or Center Hill for em.

Ocassionally Ill fish Old Hickory for largemouth,Id say Im 70% a small mouth fisherman,20% a largemouth fisherman,and the rest would be a mixed bag of fishing for rockfish/trout/crappie,bout it.

Next year Im gonna start shooting carp,will PM spit then about getting started.

What do ya'll fish for?
 
Crappie 75%. Bass bream trout sauger and walleye make up the other 25%. when I was a kid it was 90% sauger below Nickajack dam, but they just aren't there like they used to be.
 
crappie, bluegill, shellcracker most of the time. catfish after that. will creek fish from time to time for bass.
 
I have all but quit rod/reel fishing with the only exception of flounder on the coast. Love me some saltwater fishing.

I am fond of common carp, buffalo, short and longnose gar. Fun to shoot!
 
Percentages change based on what type of fish has got my attention at any given time.... I like a LOT of fish, only thing I really consider trash is the turtles, because they just aren't exactly a fish.

But my top fish to go after are....

Catfish, carp (common), carp (grass), bass (smallmouth, largemouth, spotted), sunfish of any type, gar (longnose), buffalo (sm & black), trout (winter stocked), crappie (when I can find them), and I always like a drum when bass or cafishing.

In a couple days I'm gonna try and catch a striper below Old Hickory dam. When I caught a small 19 incher in New Jersey I was hooked... I want the big ones now. As for salt water fish, the ones I have access to from the shore in NJ, summer flounder (fluke) was my favorite followed by striper.
 
I have varying definitions of "favorite" ....

For their incredible ferocity when hitting a topwater plug... stripers.

For their awesome fight, great jumps and sheer beauty... smallmouth.

For the way they taste on my plate... sauger or crappie.

But approximately 70% of my fishing time is for catfish. As I tell clients, it is the only fish in Tennessee that when you drop a bait in the water you might catch one that weighs one pound... or ONE HUNDRED pounds (or bigger)!
 
If I had to pick freshwater,then I'd have to say catfish.I would rather be catching bull reds off the jetties if given the choice.

Short answer: whatever bites. I'm not picky.

Long answer: It depends where I fish.

Around here in West TN, largemouth bass and crappie. I probably fish for bass more so than crappie...or at least, that's what I mostly catch.

In the mountains of Arkansas or East TN, it's rainbow trout or smallmouth bass. I actually like the smallmouth better than the largemouth, I think the markings and colors are prettier. But we don't have them here in my corner of West TN (with the exception of Pickwick Lake).

If I'm saltwater fishing, I'll fish for whatever bites. But I'd LOVE to hook another Crevalle Jack. I STILL remember the fight it put up two years ago.
 
My friends are startig to call me a "rascist" :) Im about to the point where everything is trash but smallmouth.Just nothing like em.Other fish are fun,but smallies are just special.
 
crappie 1st with trout a close 2nd. i do enjoy smallmouth fishing and like hanging into them big ol stripers. i'll fish for anything that'll bite.
 
For whatever's happening at the time. White Bass in the springtime(and fall). Crappie before turkey season, bluegills and redears in May and June, Largemouths and channel cats in the heat of summer, and this year, I've gotten on a yellow perch kick, which will probably subside after the newness wears off. Basically whatever is biting that I have access to in my area. And I do like those old brown bass and trout in streams, but those are a far enough drive away that I don't do them too often.
 
January early Feb it's crappie. Late Feb til April it's sauger. April it's white bass. May it's largemouths. June to mid July it's walleye. Mid July to mid August it's crappie. Then my partner, who owns the boat, hunts genseng til deer season which takes us back to January.

All that said it is the walleye though.
