Just curious as what everyone is having success with for bait on trapping coyotes. Been using Hiawatha valley from Minnesota trapping supply just wondering what everyone has that is working for them.
 
Wanted to try something new this year went with capital punishment by Casey payne and apple road horse meat bait by Cletis Richards with good results probably going to switch over to it full time.
 
Whats a good bait to use in a monsoon? Have a snare set in a fence crossing but that is it. Everything is mud mud mud !
 
You can catch them with anything.. mice, road kill rabbits, ground hog , I caught a couple with part of a fox squirrel that some one ran over... it's really more location that's important...
 
I made a couple gallons of my own with dobbins solution and moderate taint beaver. That was six years ago and still have a few jars. Great bait. I only bait about 40% of sets. Red fox gland lure is hard to beat as an attractant.

Save your bacon grease, and put a teaspoon glob in the hole. Everyone and everything loves bacon!
I caught mice in my garage last year, but didn't get a chance to use them. I bet they would work well though.
I did catch some fox with partially burnt chicken feet. The farmer would process chicken and burn remains in a small campfire spot. I just picked up a few feet from the edge of ashes, and they worked. Lots of options.
 
I'll 2nd the bacon grease and make it a little easier and less messy to fool with. I save my left over bacon grease in a 16 oz plastic jar w/lid. When it's full I take a plastic ice cube tray ( $ 1.00 at the dollar store ) pour it in the tray and freeze it. I then put it in ziplock freezer bags untill ready to use. I place 1 or 2 cubes in my dirt hole sets, you'd be surprised at how effective this can be.
 
Back when I did a lot of trapping, I would start saving table scraps from steak, fish, sometimes chicken....freeze it and then use for bait. I had a couple of urban locations I would prebait with these table scraps a week before season, then set traps just before dark opening day, come back at 5:00 in the morning and remove the fox. Closest to a sure thing I ever had on K9's in trapping.
