Bruce Feldman just tweeted this
BREAKING #Alabama OC Lane Kiffin accepted the #FAU HC job, sources tell @FoxSports. He's getting a 5-year deal.

In state recruiting should be fun to watch in Florida...Strong, Kiffin, ole Jim at UF, Jumbo at FSU, ole Mark Richt at The U, & butch davis all in the state of Florida.

I'm not so sure I would want to coach FAU. May be all he can get though considering his track record as a head coach.

Looks like all that was on the table for him after the Houston gig dried up other than the OC at LSU which none of us really thought was going to happen .

The big question (s) are will he do the right thing and remain through Jan ? And or will Nick keep him around ???

I would've thought he could land a higher profile gig than FAU.

Word around the campfire seems to be have a winning season at FAU and then see what opportunities open up next year .

LOL That's pretty funny.

I love the story floating around about Joey Freshwater. Gotta wonder if its really true? Sounds hilarious.

Kiffin must really dislike Saban to take that big of a pay cut. Not a good decision to leave the best football team in America for a basement dweller school.

He didn't have a choice.

While I agree with you to a point...

His dreams and aspirations has always been to be a HC. No one wants to be a OC the rest of their career. At someone point you want to have something you can call YOURS.

FAU is going to be his stepping stone to move up.

I am sure Saban is glad he dodged a bullet with him not going to LSU having to face him next season. LSU would have been that much stronger with Kiffin at OC.

Not according to Kiffin..He said he would have paid to coach under Saban.

Sounds like your hyping something that is not really there.

I don't doubt Saban goes off from time to time on Kiffin. He's Nick Freakin Saban for god's sake. If you have ever seen his media interviews he goes off on the media and is a loose cannon at times with his mouth.

You seem bothered that Saban and Kiffin dont really get along. It will be ok.

I think what's really bothering Bama fans is Kiffin leaving them. On some other sports boards, some Bama fans were darn near angry at the Kiffin to Houston rumors last week.

No ..Not me. You are the one that seems to keep bringing up the fact there is some sort of riff between Saban and Kiffen . There may in fact be one but I think the real reason for his departure is he wants a HC position.

Me personally I am fine with i him leaving. I don't like the timing of it at all. IF he goes or if he stays for the Championships its certainly a distraction for ALABAMA. Something they don't need to be dealing with trying to win another National Championship.

Not surprised that he got another shot at Head Coach...but really surprised about the location. Whats the club/bar scene like around Boca Raton? :)
College town? Or mostly a retirement village? Either way he will be OK. Plenty of co-eds around campus towns and if he can't make a winner out of the team. He will already be in a retirement home. It may be his last stop.

Sounds like (Wait for it) WE can rest easy at ALABAMA for the playoffs and put this Kiffin leaving for FAU to rest for now.

http://www.nhregister.com/sports/201612 ... head-coach

BOCA RATON, Fla. >> Lane Kiffin has a chance to help Alabama get to 15 wins this season. And then he's going to take over the reins of a program that has won 15 games in the last four years.

Florida Atlantic and Kiffin have agreed in principle on a deal that will make him the school's next head coach. Alabama coach Nick Saban — Kiffin's soon-to-be-former boss — lauded the Owls' move, and said Kiffin will remain with the undefeated and top-ranked Crimson Tide as their offensive coordinator through the College Football Playoff.

I am glad Saban and Kiffin got all these details worked out and now they can concentrate without distractions on winning another national championship. ROLL TIDE ROLL!

:rotf:

WE didnt really care if Lane waited until the playoff was over or slithered out of Ttown tonight. YOU did.

It's the logical next step for Kiffin since he wants to work his way back into a power 5 HC job.
If he has any decent success, he will be in position to take over at LSU in a few years.

He's really gonna have to have a heck of some seasons and show that he is worthy both on the field and off the field . His contract has been said to be for 5 years and I suspect a heavy buy out .

He's done.

It's really telling that none of the "better" jobs wanted to risk turning over the reigns to him.

How come nobody mentioned Charlie getting the better Florida job?
