I posted this in the general forum but here is how my afternoon went.
I can't find deer but I can find the turkeys. I went after the two color phase hens that are on my favorite spot. When I pulled up the flock was standing there watching me and headed to the woods. After about an hour trying to find birds and not hearing a thing I headed to my truck.
Before I got there I saw a head WAY down in a field. When I looked it was the whole flock. I cut through the woods then posted up about 80 yards away hoping they would go past me to roost but they cut around and I had to slip about 40 yards to make a shot. The color phase hens were already gone but I didn't mind popping some stragglers. Not bad for an old fat guy with a muzzle loader.
