Anyone have an idea what a fair price is on a Switchback XT? Just the bare bow, plus nock & peep. Strings were changed July 2011. Bow has no noticeable wear. It's the draw & weight I want. I can't spot anything wrong with it.

Guy wants $400 for it. He's 100% firm. I offered him $375. He said no. I said I'd sleep on it. I think it still sounds fair, and I really like the Switchback XT. Money is kind of tight at the moment, so I'm sort of torn. I don't want to miss a good deal... but I could also save for another month or so and get something else.

I seem to see a lot of others on ArcheryTalk for sale around $500-550 range with rest/sight/etc.. but they don't have the rest/site/etc that I would want on there.
 
I personally think thats too high for that bow. The local bow shop here you can buy good used bows for 300 to 350. I havent been in there yet this year but usually there are several mathews in that range.
 
I shoot the regular SB and love it. FWIW, the SB XT model just about always come out on top when you poll Mathews owners/hunters about their favorite hunting bow of all time (some say the best bow Mathews has ever produced). I have read these words "Favorite Mathews Bow of All Time = Switchback XT" on a few other forums as well. Food for thought.

I wouldn't pay it. The most I would give is probably $325, if that. You can get a lot newer bow for $400. That said, if I was set on a sbxt, I still wouldn't pay $400. You can find a bare bow cheaper than that. Of the ones you have saw on archery talk for the price you mentioned, how many of them have actually sold at that price. They run the price up on there because they know everyone will try to get them to come down. I gave less than $400 on there for my dxt. If you see one on there, don't be bashful about making a lower offer. People on there are used to having to come down on there prices to sale a bow because there are so many for sale, a person can usually find a better deal, if they are willing to wait and look.
 
The Switchback retains its value better than most bows on the market . I'd say $400 is reasonable , if the string that was replaced in 2011 is a quality string , showing very little wear .
 
The Switchback XT will sell for that easy. The reason? Check any of the polls they run on the various archery forums about "what bow is the best Mathews has ever made" and hands down it is going to be the Switchback XT. That's why they bring so much on the classifieds...people don't let those oldie but goodies die.

There was one here in the classifieds a while back...I would go try to find it and see if he sold it. It looked to be in great shape and had a bunch of goodies with it for that ball park price.
