Factory Hornady Ammo=Excellent

I have been shooting my 270 cal. rifle some preparing for a mule deer hunt in Wyoming this October. I have shot several different brands but the 130 grain Hornady SST InterLock are awesome. They shoot really flat and seem to be hard hitting. I know I could get better results if I reload but at this time I am not reloading. So I am sticking with the Hornady now all I need is a big muley broadside.

Hornaday is as good of factory fodder as you can find, and the interlock IMO the best deer bullet available. Don't know what you mean by sst though.

The SST (Super Shock Tipped) is the plastic tipped interlock. Basically a ballistic tip bullet.

My 270 WSM Browning loves my hand loaded Hornady 130 SST's & Interbonds.
Hornady's Factory selections all around the bord these days are among the best I do beleve also.

That is a great bullet tndrbstr. I shoot the 165 interlock as well in my 06. But if there has ever been a caliber to reload in it is the 30-06. Factory loaded ammo in the 30-06 is notoriously mild. It has to be since their are so many old, old guns in 30-06 that cannot stand high pressure. Therefore, all ammo manufacturer have to keep pressure and ultimately velocity low. I didn't realize how bad it was until we chronied some factory vs max charge loads in my featherweight 30-06.the results were amazing. A handload 165 interlock sitting on top of 57 gr of imr 4350 (max load) was 200-240 fps faster than a factory 165 load. After shooting the handloads, a factory load sounded like a 22 magnum going off.

I just bought a couple of boxes of hornady for my 270wsm too...I'm headin to the bench with it before to long...
I'm not a big fan of the plastic tips tho

They make loaded ammo for the WSM? Didn't know they made WSM loaded ammo.

I agree with that. While velocities are somewhat less as is bullet selection, accuracy can be just as good.

You shooting the old stuff or the New Super Performance?

Old Stuff but would like to try the SP. I bet the SP will be very expensive.

Haven't paid a lot of attenion too that I have seen so far but seeing as they replaced there line with it doubt there will be that much difference in $ over the same bullets in the old.

All of it is plenty good enough to kill a whitetail or muley when the shot is good.
