Aight guys what's your go to factory ammo for the 260. I know there are way more options in reloading but I don't and have no one to do so. I've shot 2 deer now with federal 120gr nbt's and have been disappointed. For sure not what I'm used to from the bt's. Thanks for any thoughts.
 
Federal Fusion 120 would be on my short list. I have seen the 243 and 308 Fusion loads in action, they worked well, don't see why the 260 load wouldn't do the same.
 
That's why I picked the nbt bc I've shot many a deer with them in 243, 7-08, and 280 with no problems. Perfect lung heart shots one at 12yrds the other at 35yrds. Had entry hole only but next to no blood trail. If I hadn't heard the deer drop I'd have been real worried. The first ran over 100yrds and I'm talking pin head drops of blood every 15-20yrds, the second about 50yrds with the same result. It may be just me being picky again but after bang flops on 6 with the 243 and ray Charles blood trails from the other 2 guns, I expected a little more.
 
Close range shots will test the structural integrity of any bullet providing enough velocity. I switched to shooting accubonds out of my 6.5 swede and 6.5-284 and have had nothing but stellar results. That being said I don't know any factory loads off hand.

You could also move up to 140 gr loads. The 140 Gameking should do well. There are a few more 140 gr factory options than 120 gr.
 
Black Hills loads a 120 gr Hornady GMX, Barnes loads a 120 gr TSX, Nosler loads a 125 gr Partition, and Grizzley Ammo loads a 130 gr Swift Scirrocco. All of those are good bullets that will pretty much guarantee a pass through. www.midwayusa.com
 
Thanks for the opinions guys. I thought about the 140 game kings next but haven't got any farther than that. Guess it kinda is me being picky due to the close shots. I may just have to stick with what I have for now and give it a fair shake before I jump.
 
I've used the 140 grainRemington core-lokts for several years with good results.Bought some 120 grain Barnes Vor-tx last year they perform well also but a bit pricey.
