It's hard to find habitat information geared specifically towards Tennessee. However, Dr. Craig Harper does the majority of his food plot and habitat research here in east Tennessee.

I highly recommend taking time to read through his many articles on UT's website. He is currently finishing the second volume of his food plot manual.

Absolutely. Most importantly, his research and opinions are unbiased as he does not get paid to promote any type of seed or products. He is a straight-shooter and reports exactly what he finds.
 
But East TN is night & day difference from the lowlands of West TN. Having lived in both, East TN is prettier, but West TN seems to have more wildlife to me. Could be my personal habits and 25 years difference. Looks like 100 acres of Great Smoky Mountains has less food & cover than 100 acres of grown over bottom lands.

True, but this information is applicable to the entire state.

I agree.

Have only found one thing he's ever not been 100% correct about.
I have quail nesting in food plots, with no broom sedge nearby. :D
 
The only time I disagree with Craig's findings is on food plot plant preference by deer. His research is conducted in East TN and on the Plateau, and the food plot plants deer like in those locations can be VERY different than in West TN.
