I killed a deer Tuesday and noticed his front knees were worn bare. His teeth are worn way down as well. This is an old guy. I wonder if the hairless knees are the result of getting up and down over the years or if he had learned to crawl to avoid hunters. He was on public land. Has anyone else ever noticed a deer having hairless knees?

Re: ever see a deer with hairless knees?

The biggest deer I ever killed in my life was in the mountains of Putnam County and he had no hair on his knees, and almost a callus. reminded me of my elbows. lol. I seriously figured it was a result of him being so old and spending so much time in a bed...

I would love to see his teeth. I think your right in that he's old! Also deer crawl more than hunters think and some deer more than others. TFS

Likely he just skidded across the blacktop a short time earlier.

That is actually the wrist joint on the deer. Likely scabbed over because he used them to push off to stand up out of the bed....which he had apparently been doing for many, many years because based on the teeth that deer was ancient.

Any pics of the antlers?

Here are the antlers. I'm still working on whitening the teeth. It's hard to see in the pic, but he has a drop tine off the right G2. He doesn't have a brow on the left side. It's also hard to tell from the pic, but the bases are really gnarly. I'm guessing his rack was on the downward side of size.
