Crazy thing happened today. Went to scout small area where I killed on opening day of bow season. Sign dwindled during October, didn't check it in weeks.
Today, fresh deer sign everywhere. Tracks, heavy trails, lots of poop. Few small rubs too.
I have two stands there, one I haven't hunted and one I killed from on bow opener. The stands are about 120 yards apart, give or take.
While checking the deer trail under the un-hunted stand, I found fresh blood! Followed it all the way to next stand, and past it some, until I had to go meet a buddy to hunt for the evening.
The blood was dry in a few spots , but the rain had made most of it wet like it was fresh. It can't have been more than a day or two old. I know people occasionally go there, but it's a mostly overlooked tract of land. I thought it was crazy that I found and followed some random blood trail like that. Wish I had been able to find where the deer had died.
