Anyone ever hunted this unit? I got drawed for dec 1st thru the 3rd.

I hunted it in 2008 and it was very dry. My understanding was it's better to hunt when there's water to help funnel them a little better. Set up along those trails near sign and plan to hunt all day. Get ready for a lot of action if you have good weather. I look forward to getting a follow up report.

Pre scout it the best you can and try to go in with a very specific game plan. Obviously that may change because of sign and other hunters, but don't blow the area out. There's also a good bit and subtle art of randomness to hunting bottomland. You expect the deer will be traveling the edges of the water because that makes sense, but those bottomland deer will walk, wade and swim with no thought or hesitation. Often times, the best looking, highest percentage, most obvious spots yield absolutely nothing when in the bottoms.
