encore serial # question

i sat down and wrote down all the serial numbers on my guns last night in case something ever happened (which i pray to god nothing ever does). i have an encore with 2 barrels. the only serial number i could find was on the receiver and not the barrels. so if something ever happened would i still get replaced with both barrels or what would happen?

since the receiver is the registered part of the gun it should only have a serial number. i would take a good pic of the receiver and both barrels. you would be fine

Also take pictures of each gun and wright down any scratches marks to identify the gun. Discreption of gun along with date of purchase, amount paid.

You can also take the butplate off your long guns and put your name, address and identifying information there and put but pad back on.

Make copies of this information and put it someplace safe also give a copy to someone you trust.

That's the ticket right there, I recommend laying a white sheet on the floor or the end of a bed and photograph each gun, left & rt. sides along with the barrel or receiver markings, along with any distinctive marking the weapon may have (ex: odd wood grain, a scratch, a slight crack, etc)

The idea of placing your name under the butt plate is good, but most gun thieves know enough to remove the butt plate and see it the owner did that and they remove the markings. The more detailed your discription of the weapons are the better it is for you in the event of recovery identification is needed or the law posts the discriptions to local shops and dealers.

I have a safe, but still photographed each gun, then made a file on my computer, burned three CD copies of the file and printed three hard copies as well. My brother and mother both have copies in their home safes along with a sealed envelope with the combo #'s to the safe in case something should happen to me.
