I am not a fan of the weaver type scope mounts, never have been.
Do I have any personal experience with them "failing" or providing less than adequate accuracy... no.
With that being said, I saw somewhere on here where someone had actually placed two sets of rings on a scope (4 total) on a weaver base.
Would that help to ensure "better" accuracy and make sure nothing moved on ya?
Thinking about putting some higher quality glass on a 7mm rem mag barrel I have for my Encore and was considering doing this "just in case" considering the 7 will have a little more recoil than any other caliber I have in the Encore line.
Waste of time ?
Good idea ?

Well, I tink with the 7 mag, all you will need is a good set of
rings and base, with them installed properly. I don't think you will need two sets for a seven mag.

My ultra mag and my 338 have heavier recoil and I have never used
two sets. I have the duel dove tail on the ultra mag with a 3.5
to 10 X 50 mm scope and on the 338 I have a 2 X 7 lupo on it.

Just make sure everthing is installed properly and you should be
fine.

If I was up there right now, I would do it for you.

I would try the Talley 1 piece mount. There is a whole less to go wrong, the one I have held perfect for 3 years, and will go on my next Encore barrel. I dont see where 4 Weaver mounts would be any better.

What would putting more than two on it do?

What other kind of mounts are there? Whats the best?
