Finally finished my little Encore project. 24" bull barrel chambered in 6.5BRM. Ziess Conquest 3x9x40 glass. 2lb6oz trigger. Custom laminated wood. Haven't shot it in yet, but I have great expectations for it.

Very Nice workmanship. Is the 6.5BRM the E A Brown cartridge based on the 30/30? That is a nice round for a single shot type of rifle if it is the one I am thinking about. Will it fit in a G2 platform? I think a standard wt 24" barrel on a G2 would make an excellent walkabout carry rifle that could do most anything. I like the small/mid case 6.5s; they give excellent performance with little recoil, noise, etc. The stock is done nice but I don't care for the style-but that is just me. Congrats. Let us know how she shoots. Plateau Hunter

The cutouts in the stock reduce the overall weight a little. This rig is fairly heavy.

The stock is laminated and called Tiger Wood. I bought the wood, and a guy in Sparta custom fit and finished it for me. He did a great job.

I have always liked the 6.5x55 Swedish. The 6.5 Bench Rest Magnum takes a 140 gr long, skinny 6.5 bullet on a formed 30-30 case. The result is a fairly heavy bullet with high sectional density traveling at a moderate speed of about 2400fps. The idea is to release more energy in the animal instead of just blowing through it.
