Has this ever happened to anyone else. It was my 270 barrel light primer strike just so happened it was the biggest deer of my life. I was able to recover and get the deer killed but it was a tense moment.I showed the unfired case to my gunsmith he said was not snapped closed hard enough and I have a habit of trying to close it as quietly as possible. That was two years ago the gun has been sitting in the safe ever since.

Ok, the rifle is not supposed to be able to have the trigger pulled unless the action is completely closed (battery). There is really no half way. If you are not in battery, and you pull the trigger, and that round goes off, you are going to have a problem. If the rifle is not in battery, you can't pull the trigger. Have you been in touch with T/C about this?
 
A missfire could be caused by any of the above answers. One other scenario is a primer that has not been seated deep enough. Particularly if it was a reload.
 
Go to Bellmtcs.com and you will find you are not the only one to have this issue. The encore platform is excellent for ML or rimmed cartridges. There are big issues with cartridges that headspace on the shoulder.

Buy the parts from mike bellm and do it your self. Dont have to do any fancy grinding, just replace some springs. Ive done both of mine and they break light and very crisp with no creep. Also upgrade the factory hammer spring to his 51 hammer spring and you wil never have a misfire.
