Encore - Contender

I have a buddy who is gonna get his boys their first deer rifle.
He asked me what is the difference between an encore and the contender. Anyone know.

The difference between the encore and the G2(current contender type) is basically frame size with the G2 being smaller and lighter. As a result the G2 is chambered in less powerful cartridges. However I prefer the G2 because it is lighter and handier but it isn't a real featherweight. My 8 yo at the time killed a buck with his G2 in .223 a couple of seasons ago. It is chambered in several cartridges that are more than adequate for deer. PH
