When are the results of the elk drawing posted? And where can they be found?
How big was the one you killed (elk)?TN Larry":fpi1y0gu said:Elk hunts are normally announced at the August commission meeting prior to posting publicly. When I got drawn a few years ago, it was announced the week prior to Labor Day weekend which would be next week.

Long story short, I didn't kill one. It isn't a slam dunk hunt like some expect and like I did as well. A lot depends on the area that you get drawn for. I got drawn for an area with good history, but there were very few elk there or sign that year for whatever reason. I did have a chance to kill a couple of small bulls every day but didn't pull the trigger. On the last day, I was the last not to kill and got access to the entire elk area. It was like we were in a different world. I did miss a nice 5x5 that I should have killed. We got busted, and I had to make a quick off handed 100 yard shot and just shot over him. I have thought about that shot many, many times. We hunted the same spot that afternoon and had a bull bugling and heading to us, but it got dark before he made it to the field that we were in. TWRA told the juvenile that weekend where this bull was, and he killed a 6x7 there on the Sunday morning. It was an awesome experience but definitely not easy depending on the area. Now, if I would have had the area that we hunted the final day all week, then it would have been easy. Either way, I have no excuses or regrets.
