It's a great time to be in the woods in East TN. Lots of bucks on their feet during daylight. Some mature ones. All the ones my crew have seen have been searching.
Seen a big 4 this morning came in to some grunts. He had dark tarsals, neck started swelling. I believe their cruising but not hardly there yet. Give it a couple more weeks
It's starting to pick up and should be turning up a little more come Monday-Tuesday with the cold snap. I've seen a lot of cruising, some sparring and a bit of chasing on the trail cams in the last 4 days. Had a 4 pt. run through the saddle I was set up on this morning and a decent 8 pt. was about a minute behind him hot on his trail so he got a boat ride. Tarsals were stained and neck was starting to swell up but he didn't appear to have shed any weight yet. Monroe Co.
Missed a six pointer the other day and seen a decent buck this morning but didn't see the two does behind me so got busted while trying to determine if this was the one I missed or not cause I don't want to shoot him unless he keeps tempting me . Seeing a little activity but I'm just hunting 10 acs.
Not seeing a whole lot of cruising at this point on stand or on camera. Had 2 does work through this evening about 4:45 sat till past shooting light and nothing was on their tails. Usually see the most activity in Union County after thanksgiving through the first couple weeks of december.
Not much opening weekend of ML. Shot an 8 that was by himself. Saw a few fresh scrapes. Buddy saw one that appeared to be checking his scrapes and trailing a doe.
The woods was on fire this morning in my area. Seen 4 different bucks and not sure on how many doe I seen alot. They was one particular doe that these bucks kept on pushing her around. I even had to bump a couple doe just to get out so I could take wife to Gatlinburg. Will be back in the morning
