East TN Hog Hunting

I've never been hog hunting, nor have I ever seen one in the woods or in person really. I am wanting to try to get one with my a bow although I would be happy getting one with a rifle/mzloader.

Is the Cherokee Forest a good spot for hogs? What do I look for in a good spot?

I'd be willing to smoke a good portion of the hog for someone who got me on the right track. :-)

i have seen a lot of hogs and hog sign while fishing upper bald river.

Lots of hogs east of 411. South Cherokee has plenty of them also.

Upper bald river. There is an old logging road across from the upper end of the bald river trail. It leads to several big coves that have always had alot of sign in them. I have seen several around Crowder branch above Double camp also. Both of those areas are in the Tellico district of South Cherokee.

Dammit! This year I AM going to go come he!! or high water. I have said I was going to go for two years and pussed out for some reason or another. Not this year. I'm gonna be there. Would enjoy meeting some new folks anyhow....the crowd I run with now are getting called democrats on here :grin:

I've always wanted to hunt CNF for hogs or bear but just can't seem to get away from deer hunting better places. I'd love to get up there this year and snoop around a bit. I'v always heard that the bear reserve south of the lake was loaded.

That still hurts! :grin: I have had people threaten me one here, call me names but when I was called a Democrat that was the worst.

I am interested if anythign gets planned - i got info on a population of hogs near Dale Hollow Lake state park - west side of the lake from KYDNR e-mail correspondance but cannt talk anyone here into going to check it out.
