Early teal migration?

Work continues on our blind, probably not gonna quite be ready to hunt for woody/teal, but we have a spot picked out for that. Had 20 geese fly over us yesterday morning and saw a group of about 50 teal fly past the island we can see from our work spot. Hope that don't mean an early migration and we have a few birds once season opens. It may just be a trickle of a few right now, and I hope that is the case. The last couple of years teal season has been a bust for us.
 
I've never given it much of a chance living where I live. I've thought about heading west but it's tough to commit that much time to a teal hunt instead of saving it for big duck season. I'd like to get into a mess sometime though I know they're tasty.
We get to shoot woodies so I usually take a morning and hit some creeks but it's pretty hot or miss too.
 
Camped on the river near Paris Last weekend spotted one small group that was working a point on the end of an island. I sure hope they are around come season, that's some of the most fun shooting you can have when a group of 40 plus birds dive bomb your spread. I use to hunt with a very small spread of a dozen or so decoys, but now I'll throw out 4-5 dozen with about 3 mojo's they cant stand it when they see it.

The vast majority of the times that I have seen mojo's work has been during teal season.
You are right, they can't stand it.
 
Gonna get down in the 50's next week. From my experience that'll push them further South. Every time I've done good on teal it's been hot with a South wind
 
Got reports and saw pics of teal in my corner of the world yesterday. Tons of water still standing in some of these fields and apparently that's where they're hanging out. Can't imagine they stick around for the opener but I'll try to keep tabs on them.

Check on our place this morning before daylight. Flushed 30 or so roosting geese 1st thing. Woodies started zipping around pretty good and I could hear teal on the water. I never did see any teal flying. When it got light enough to see good, I could see a couple dozen teal swimming around in open water away from the buck brush. Maybe they'll hang around 'til in the morning.
