I have two older Rem Model 7`s bought the blue/walnut 6mm in `89 and the 7SS 308 in `96,,both have only one rear base mount screw hole,,and all the bases I see now have two rear base screw holes, the 6mm has a one piece weaver rail that I would like to replace with a two piece base with weaver slots,,

anybody seen anything like that

I've got a brand new set.

Isn't that the point of the model seven? Shorter receiver (one hole) to help lighten the weight? That sounds sarcastic but I don't mean it that way. I think they made a one hole and later a two hole but I am no gun expert

the early Model 7s used the same mounts as the XP100 and 600/660 series,,and just about all mounts used a one piece base which makes the mount higher and blocks access to the action port,,at some point they started using two base screws on the rear to allow stronger use of two piece bases,,they did not lengthen the action all they did was add a hole,,
