So according to the table on page 32 of the hunt guide the early hunt is unil L only. And while it is a anterlered only hunt no anterlered deer may be taken. I'm sure this is just a typo but will confuse alot of people

Digital or Hard. Has 3 asterisks. The associated paragraph is for the late anterless hunt but the early hunt refers to it as well

I agree, that table labeled "Deer Seasons and Bag Limits" is misleading about the early season hunt, especially the three asterisks that denote Unit L only, and antlerless only. See this screen capture to see what the OP is referring to.

Now I'm confused. So are we to assume that two antlered bucks may be harvested during the August velvet hunt? Also it appears that they erroneously put the 3 asterisks next to the hunt.

You can legally kill both on private property; one a day, and you have three days to hunt. In essence, you could legally "buck out" for the season/year on this three day hunt, with two antlered bucks if you so chose, albeit, on private property, and no more than one a day.

As great as killing two giants would be, it sure would make the rest of the season suck!

Good catch. It is a Hunting Guide mistake to have the three asterisks with the early season hunt. It is a statewide hunt on private land only. The bag limit is one buck per day to the max annual buck limit of two. Antlerless deer are not legal on that hunt.

Such bobbles are why there is a disclaimer in bold on Page 6 that the Hunting Guide is NOT a legal document. The legal documents are found in the Tennessee Code, TWRA Rules and Regulations, and TWRA Proclamations. Links to all of those documents are found at the bottom of the home page of the TWRA website.

Thanks for the heads up, and I will let the agency know.
