Early December scrapes/rubs

I've seen several huge, fresh scrapes on the way to my stand the past couple of days as well as some nice new rubs. Is it normal to see scrapes this late in the year? For some reason it was my impression they layed off the scrapes once the rut began/wound down. Is this a sign that the rut is still going on strong where I'm at or could it just be some residual late rut action?

The rut just gets started in south Knox county around the first week or two of Dec every year on properties I hunt. I to have had scrapes and rubs as well as 3 new mature bucks show up on cameras in the past 4-5 days.Heavy chasing as well going on. Highly likely your experiencing the same thing if your in the eastern part of the state.
