BSK I imagine they have had good results, but what is the minimum acreage you have seen it hold up to grazing pressure on?

Depends on the deer density and other food sources. If the rest of the property is mature hardwoods (virtually no browse), you're going to need more acreage in food plots than if the property has lots of natural browse. But you'll probably need at least 2% of the property in food plots and 3-5% would help. Planting in large individual food plots (2+ acres) also helps. Deer do most of their browsing around the outer edges of the plot. A large plot will have enough interior acreage to produce a good crop even when the outer edges are getting pounded.

good info...I have tons of browse so I might try throwing some out this year. I have an approx 1.5 acre plot. Also there will be 100's of acres of farmer planted soy beans in the bottoms. Maybe the deer will get on those and give mine a chance to be a late season food source then I could sow WW over the top of them in early September.

I learned quickly 1 acre is not enough

I planted 3 acres of regular soybeans on our lease years ago. They looked great until the week before bow season and they ate them all in 3 days. Nothing but stems left. These were not Eagle Seed brand but never the less it takes alot of acreage. If i didnt have at least 5 acres i wont attempt it again.

I think Im going to try it on an acre and a half this year.

I'll plant it with Sorgum which becomes palatable late and provides cover.

My hope is that 1) I have a lower deer density than a lot of areas so that will help and 2 I have have 100's of acres of bean fields within a mile so maybe they will eat there a lot more. And let mine brown up for a late food source.

If they eat it up thats fine too and I'll time to plant cereal grains or after it for hunting season...
