I've been wondering the same thing. It was an awesome hunting and fishing show. Wish it would come back.

Guess i haven't been following it for a while.
I know they used to alternate locations each year between Oshkosh and Memphis.

Kind of surprised to see it was in Alaska last year and San Antonio, Texas this year.

I was told turnout from vendors as well as public. I had a friend that was a vendor and he refused to come back because of the cost to do business.

The reason I ask is I work at DU. Now I'm just a little peon, only been here a few months, and never went to the old expo. Will ask around the office and see if I can find out why from the horse's mouth.

Any more detailed comments on what you liked?

The old DU Expo was much larger and more diversified. Plenty to do and see inside as well as outside. There was more interaction for kids and grownups alike. The Fall Hunting Expo we've had since the DU moved on isn't even in the same ballpark.

I didn't even know they had a fall expo or else I might have showed .

The last couple of years the deals were fewer and farther between . Dealers were wanting retail plus for their wares . I guess DU promoters got greedy and pushed out the closeout vendors .
Still it was nice the Chili cook offs the firing ranges the test drives . All good !

Asked around a hit, and the short answer is that neither the vendors nor DU was making any money anymore.

The internet has completely changed the outdoor products industry. A vendor can't load up a bunch of product, drive it some where, staff a booth, and sell things at a discount that incentivizes consumers, and still make money. Not when you can buy the same thing online for cheaper still and get it to your house in a couple days. Yes it's fun to look and touch, but the money has to be there to back it up.

Some truth .

The fist couple of years I spent insane amount of money including buying two 4x4 4wheelers.
The following years I started price shopping more compare shopping online and if I found something there I could buy significantly cheaper online I would .
