Got a new boat and going to try it out this weekend...heard that crappie were biting on the duck...anyone got ideas where abouts to fish ?
Thinking about putting in at iron bridge road
Whats the best way to catch them?
 
Slip cork with crappie tubes and/or minnows around lay downs close to creek mouths is where I've had the best luck this winter on the Duck.
 
I don't know about the crappie, but I have been catching 20-30 trout in a few hours the past 3-4 weekends (releasing as well). A few weekends ago a guy a little downstream of me had a large fish come out to pop the line right at the shore (he tried to pull it out without a net). It looked like a walleye from where I was standing, but he said it was a musky.

musky in the duck? do they exist there?
 
Yes. They're are a few musky in the Duck. Don't know how many made it through that really hot and dry August we had about 5 years ago. We found a couple dead in a spring that year. I've never landed one, but my little cousin hooked a 40+"er on a beetle spin and 4lb test. He got it to the boat 3 times, but I couldn't manage to land it for him before it stripped his reel.

I wish SCN or someone that knows could find out how many and what years they were stocked.

Yup thats the area I am familiar with... sort of. I have hunted around there but not fished much. Planning to float it this spring on my boat.
 
No smallmouth? I thought the duck had some good ones... I would like to fish for a lot of stuff there, and knowing there might be a musky somewhere is cool. Mainly I want to catch some channel cats, flatheads, crappie, smallmouth, maybe some carp too.
 
Yeah Catman, I was just messing with ya. There may be a few smallies in there.

On another note, there was a smaller Muskie got on the Duck this past Sunday. If I had to guess by the picture I would say between 25-30".

I wish I knew what year and how many were stocked around Lillard's Mill because there is still at least a few left. Fish was released.
