There aren't any deer left in the Bottoms section. Still some decent deer in the southern part of the Remainder, near Cuba Landing.

I can agree with that 100%. I have a house up there and used to hunt the DR Bottoms every year until a few years ago. I think between EHD and the "earn a buck" doe slaughter, the population is way down.

In my opinion, you are correct sir.

My place backs up against that section of the TNWR, and it used to be that we tried to hunt as close to the Refuge boundary as we could get. Now, we want to hunt as far from the boundary as we can get. The doe population is virtually non-existent on that section of the Refuge.

I wasn't drawn this year but in 3-4 years of hunting the TNWR at Cuba Landing South of the Hwy. 40 my buddy and I have only taken a couple does and no bucks. I've seen a spike and 6 point bucks. It is mature forest and not very good hunting. It was so poor last time I called the refuge manager and asked for advice. I was told there are no hot spots. I too had heard there were other spots on the refuge that had good hunting.

I'll give you my opinion after tomorrow, I can hunt hatchie to, found a spot at Dr last Saturday that is promising, gotta get up a slough in my boat though
