Duck mange?

I shot a drake wood duck yesterday (a little late don't you think) and my buddy shot this ringneck today. Both were missing most of their back feathers. Both birds were cleanly killed in the air and they both flew normally. I dressed the birds and found no other abnormality's.
Any one ever see this before?
Safe to eat?

No it isn't too late to be killin woodies. ;) this is the past two weekends
I would think it would be alright as long as there isn't an open wound or anything....but im no expert.
