How would I get into a duck hunt?It seems like it would be fun but where to start?Deer hunting is easy to manage you just go to a wma or a friends farm.Duck hunting not so easy.I hate to spend a lot of money to find out its not for me.What would I need besides a place?

Go to a WMA, especially Haynes Bottom in Clarksville, and jump a blind with a buddy. Some blinds are smoking them. Ours... not so much.
All you really need is a dozen decoys and waders. If you feel like spending a little more money by a robo-decoy. Cheatham has a wade in area but it is often few and far between.

Gun, shells, waders, decoys, learn how to duck call or bring somebody who can call, boat (for the most part) or 4-wheeler. But you can't duck hunt with a 4-wheeler at only select places. So if you can get all that and a place to go you will be set.
Or the other alternative is find someone who is willing to take you til you figure it out. But even then you will need the right clothes which may include waders, gun, and shells. But that would be the easiest way to give it a shot. But its hunting dont go out there and expect to kill ducks.....there is a lot of hard work that goes into killing ducks.

if you like being cold, wet, muddy, and miserable 90% of the time go for it

we do not hunt that way, only time cold is maybe riding to blinds, we do not hunt on rainy days and are well versed on wading water, great food, conversation etc. while in blind, the kids love to go with us and will stay all day long if ducks are in area

Yea I can't say that I have been cold, wet, and miserable but a few times while duck hunting. And those times I happened to fall in the water and fill my waders. To me duck hunting is the most fun you can have while hunting. There is nothing like it.

Might first trip was on a guided hunt in Miss. Had a blast and got me hooked, IMO I would save up some cash over the summer, do some research, and hire a guide, maybe in Ark. or maybe Reelfoot. You should be able to have a great first time for a couple of hundred bucks + license and gas, which sounds crazy but its WELL worth it. Good Luck!
