What's a good set up for drop shot rod and reel.I'm looking at a 6.6 med.spinning set up.Iv never fished a drop shot but want to learn any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I used a 7'0 medium Abu Garcia Veritas rod with a 20 series Abu Garcia Orra reel. Sometimes I use braid with a fluoro leader in 8 pound test. Sometimes I use straight 8 fluoro... And sometimes I use straight 8 pound mono. I've caught fish on all 3 set-ups. The braid line with the leader seems to be the best. It'll cast further and is very sensitive.

If you go with the braid / fluoro set up and have never used it before, don't set the hook as hard as you normally due with regular mono. If you do, you will have some breaks on the hook set as the braid has basically no stretch. A swift, hard pull will do the trick. It is an awesome set up when you get used to it.

I agree with a light weight 7' rod as well with a sensitive tip.

Good advice and the bull whip hookset isn't needed with braid or Flouro. I also recommend the 7 ft med action rod with a smooth reel.
