Just got this one finished up. Drop point hunter with "molten metal" "acrylester" resin scales…I've had this stuff put back for a couple years…reminds me of old celluloid handles. Went back to my roots on this one and used 1075 high carbon steel…very first steel I ever made a knife from. I really love 1075! It's TOUGH (used a lot in sword making), simple to heat treat, takes a hair popping edge and is easy to sharpen. Tapered tang. Pinned, epoxied, pressed and polished aluminum guard. Nickel and stainless Loveless bolts, nickel lanyard liner. Thin black G10 scale liners. Hand made, wet molded, black leather sheath with hand sewn white stitching.

I made this one slightly oversized from original designs to accommodate bigger hands.

I'm pretty fond of this one myself. So, if it doesn't sell, it won't break my heart. They have discontinued this particular scale color, so this will be the only one like it I'll ever get to make. $350 FTF or $375 TYD.

There's pretty trucks and pretty guns. Knives can absolutely be pretty! And this one definitely qualifies as such.

I know who you are talking about and can't remember his name for anything off the top of my head. I've held a few of his knives. Very nice work! Forged in Fire ain't my thing. I don't like to be rushed. If it takes me a month to build something to the best of my abilities and to satisfy me, so be it.

Edit to add: Not that I have a problem with Forged in Fire! That's what got me started making knives. My daughter and I were watching it and she said, "Daddy, you ought to try making knives." I said, "You know what, honey? You're right!" And that's what set it into motion. Started out with 1075 steel, natural lump charcoal, a pipe with a hair dryer, an angle grinder and a small ammo can filled with canola oil. I made a bunch of knives like that. They were ugly as sin…but the heat treat was good and they are still in use today.

I've gotta make a little money on some of them to supply materials for others…and I just spent a pretty good lick on steel today while it was "on sale." If no one here wants it and I don't decide to keep it, I may try a FB raffle. Seems like a lot of makers are resorting to that now.

Folks Ive held and looked at most of the knives Shag has made and this one is the best of the best! He is a perfectionist (gets it from his mother) and he has perfected the craft of knife making. Somebody better scoop this one up before he decides to quit making them!
