I pondered on those rifles for days. I wanted a long action though. Ended up with this on saturday. Remington has a coupon for $100 off any CDL model from now until the end of the year. I have 6 or 7 of them just in case  and can mail you a couple if you would like them.

Love them Hawkeyes

I'm not a loader/reloader so how is the availiblilty and cost of that round.

Loaded ammo is not hard to find at all. I don't reload either but I have been meaning to get started for at least a year now  A box of Hornady 117 grainers is about $24 a box or so. I have wanted a 257 Roberts for years. Finally pulled the trigger and quit talking about it.

When I get to shooting it some I'll send some brass your way. I'm thinking TIny may reload for a Roberts also but I'm not 100% sure.

I think Ruger's .257's are a long action, my older M77 .257 is. Put a Brown Precision "Pounder" kevlar stock on it long ago for a mountain style rifle...right at 6# total. One of the great all-time calibers. UPS, You got yourself a great rig! Congrats!! :) That 700 does look awesome too... Yep drool...
