is corn a good crop for doves or are the grains too big? I dont want to join the crowd on the public dove field and would rather try some alternative fields maybe crops or CRP fields. Any suggestions? This is a WMA with food plots, crops, and CRP

picked corn fields or cut for silage are some the best. If you can find a picked corn field where the stalks have been bushhogged......get ready. Its good times.

cool. I will hit the fields when they are harvested... I don't know if they will be bush hogged though. Will see when they run the combine... hope they do it early during dove season. Only thing missing is a power line.. ha!

2nd week of archery it seems like most year out ther cat not sure about the new farmer though
there's a new farmer on those fields? I wouldn't know.. only hunted there less than a year, just past turkey season to be exact. Also I noticed a corn field here in franklin was already cut, not sure if it was a waste or they actually ran the combine, but maybe with the early season this year they will cut it soon out on the WMA. I just drove by there today and it has not been cut yet. The field that actually produced has a bit of green left on the leaves but the other field which had undeveloped ears is already brown. I hope they cut it soon just for the sake of doves lol. Only thing those fields lack is a good power line.
