Anyone know of any dove shoots I could get in on close to Lebanon? I'm new to this area and haven't made any buddies around here yet. I don't want to go public fields , already been that route. Paying is not a problem.

I live in Watertown,I have no birds! From what I hear no one does!

I'm in Rutherford County and every evening about 3:30 or 4:00 I can step out on the back patio and see many flying around. They're starting to filter in.

GOOD!!!!! I was beginning to wonder. I think my area is doomed. No water! I do have plenty of crows! costing me a fortune!!!

A 2 acre 'DRY' lake I just had dug surrounded by about 3 acres of tilled field. 200 lbs of wheat and 100lbs of cracked corn! All I have is crows!!!

Does TWRA usually lease any fields around here? I cant remember if they had any near here or not last year.

There is usually one on Oregon Rd out Cainesville Rd near the County Line.

Have you hunted it before?

Yes, and it was not too crowded, but it really all depends on what they plant and how they harvest it.

scn
No luck necessary, I put all that out over a month and a half ago just to see if i could get birds to come it, It didnt happen so I didnt waste anymore money. As far as my opinions on growing a field just to mow down the day before season....... I dont see the difference in putting down wheat and discing it under before you shoot! AGAIN, MY OPINION.

The corn made it illegal.

You can legally hunt over wheat fields that have been planted for winter food plots in accordance with the UT Agricultural Extension publication #PB378 (Seeding Guide). Cracked corn don't grow.

Back to the thread.... i have hunted it once. it was after opening weekend. they had corn silage on it and the birds did not fly to well, but I believe if they put some sunflowers, or another type of crop it may be good.

You can also look at Percy Priest WMA unit 2 most of it is off 840 and towards smyrna. the fields are not planted for dove, but sometimes the birds fly. most fields are beans, but there are some corn fields and i have had luck around the corn fields.

Your right Bone, kind of got off topic. One of the main reasons I quit posting on here. Trapper, throwing corn on the ground in its self is not illegal, hunting over said ground in Tennessee is. It's called "intent". Intent or Reasonable Suspicion to believe a crime has or will be committed. TWRA has an open invite to come on my property anytime. 15 years of Law Enforcement, I know a little law to. Thanks.
