I'm headed to wolf river lagrange, I enjoy the camaraderie to kick off hunting season. Holler at me if you get out that way and wanna meet up.

Wasn't very good. sat there for 2 hours fired at 2 birds and missed one peppered one and my buddy finished it off. We killed 2 birds between 3 guys. There were 30 trucks and hunters everywhere.
Not a banner bird day. but I got an excuse to hang out with my buddies for a bit and celebrate the 2025 hunting season.

I think it was tough all over today
Saw 3 birds in 2.5 hours. One of the worst hunts I've ever been on.
Out of 6 guys, only 1 bird killed in our fields. I guess we normally get 40-50 birds on opening day. Only thing we did different was a little less sunflowers and a little millet. Even the cheater field beside us was quiet. It normally sounds like Gettysburg on the opener. Tough day in SE TN,

We did scratch out 10 between my son and I. But we were in a terrible spot with being in the low part of a field full of sky busters. We had a blast though.
Best hunt I've been on in a long time. If I could hit those little suckers I would have had a limit in a couple hours. Hunting with a group of great people , most of were one shot killers . Almost embarrassed by my abilities next to them. Little bas@$#*s sure do humble me
Really good shoot up near Hartsville
We ended up knocking 7 down. I have been watching a field of my farmers all week. Was just grown up weeds they got sprayed a couple weeks ago. All last week I watched hundreds morning and evening. Day before opener 15 birds. We may have seen 30 birds all afternoon yesterday. I don't. Know where they went.
I did not hunt, but friends and coworkers did. One group of friends (10-12 guys) killed 41, another group of coworkers (20 guys) killed 140 and another group of guys (20) killed 201. All in southwest TN.
This was my first year hunting with my 9 year old. We had a blast. We didn't kill a ton of birds but we sure made a lot of memories. Sept 1 might be his new favorite day of the year.
Will hunting slow down as the season goes or does it just depend on migration?
