That's expensive! I can plant clearfield sunflowers for
19 an acre.

At a seeding rate of 35 lbs per acre (which is at the bottom of the recommended rate) it would be 40.60 per acre. I don't know where you are getting $4.00 an acre. Not trying to start anything just trying to figure it out. I get $19 an acre on clearfield sunflowers. Unless you are buying sunflowers with no germ.

That's what I'm hoping for. Planted 6 acres Sunday. This is my third year planting sunflowers and I think I got it all dialed in with the spacing, herbicide , and fertilize. I appreciate you taking the time to post all that info. It's really helped me out a bunch.Chaneylake":1mosndp3 said:buckdead":1mosndp3 said:3 pounds per acre on 30" rows.
this rate should produce healthy stalks and large seeded heads which is exactly what a person wants

you are spot on Spoon, I know that both of us will post pictures as our fields grow and mature out

It's also accepted ag practice to mow your warm season crop (millet, etc) and overseed winter wheat. This also what twra does on the field of theirs I shoot.
