Do you use them for doves? What kind, how many, and do you think it makes a difference? What about placement if you do use them, do you use a random pattern, or do you have something more specific?

Never used them myself, but the best dove hunting spot I had, we didn't need them.

The motion doves work.
I do a lot of dove hunting around thanksgiving and Christmas. Decoys are awesome later in the season. I put mine over power lines if they are there. If no lines AND I'm not hunting with anyone else and the field is large, I'll spread out 4-6 and put a mojo in the middle of'em. They work good. Never used just plain old decoys on the ground without a mojo with'em. Just never use a mojo in a field where you have others hunting across from you. They make birds fly low and low birds are no no's!!
This could be my only hope! There are doves around. I hear them. Occasionally I see them. Saw a few fly into some crabapple trees last week. But, without a good food source on my place, there is no predictable location. With decoys maybe I can bring them in to a setup. I got a few places to give this a try.
Out in California I would use a mojo dove and some decoys on the ground. The doves would pull in from a long way off to land in the spread. made dove hunting more like duck hunting lol.

The Mojo's definitely work. And as for the stationary dove decoys, take a look at the GHG brand. Best looking ones I've seen yet.

I know what you mean. Three of us tried to hunt a 50 acre picked sunflower field in NC the day after Christmas. We tried to spread out but field just too big. We ended up putting 6-8 stationary decoys on the ground and putting a mojo in the middle of'em. We all sat together in a hedgerow and it was about the closest thing to a teal hunt as you could get. Doves worked just like flocks of teal in September. Good times. Had our 45 in about an hr!
