Dove Decoys

I have used the cheap foam ones and they are well worth the money... the dove is the number one dumb animal when it comes to decoys.. before they had the foam ones, I used to cut them out of cardboard and paint them gray.. if they can see it they will try to light next to it..

My mojo decoy works a little too well sometimes. They fly really low around it which is a bad deal on a public field.

Bought 18 clip on doves in January for $12 plan on 2 mojos by season opener ive watched vids on em and have seen em in action on a big public field lets just say i tried to sit near the guys who have em.....shot 11 opening day last year on a public field

^^^^^^^that is the number one issue I've seen when hunting a field with a bunch of shooters.

Best decoys are a couple strung up on a power line. Mojos are awesome if your by yourself or with just a couple of shooters but I've killed a ton more coming into a deke on a power line.

You would probably be better off making a portable tree instead of a power line. I've seen some made out of PVC and painted brown and seen some guys just take a big limb and stand it up.

I use 2 10'sections of black iron pipe, tied a 1/4" rope between them & have a old spinning reel loaded with 20lbs line that I run thru the eyelet on the back of the decoys. After I stand them up & staked out I tighten the line to make then set upright . I have about 2 dozen decoys or so to put on the line & spread around

20' of iron pipe is not really portable maybe 1 1/2 pvc and stand em up with rebar.....but the best would be something that extends from 2'-15' any ideas on what u could use that emulates that

I think im going to add 10' more this year ,only thing is be careful if a storm comes thru, leave the area at the first sign of lightning .no need to take any chance

Was thinking on it and what do you guys think about an aluminum painters pole that extends maybe out to 16' thats the only thing i feel might be what would work........

Mike Could you explain in detail how you keep your doves upright on the rope? I tried to PM you.

The decoys have a loop on their back.I run fishing line thru it & after getting poles up I tighten it up with a old surf reel taped to the post.they set rite up lol

I like that idea. I made a couple of fake trees with pvc and painted them in camo that I attach foam doves on. I also use a battery powered Mojo. I might try running a line between my two "trees." I love the fishing string idea...thanks.
