Your story makes me feel better. I hunted my flooded corn field this weekend with very little success. On Sunday morning before daylight I could hear several ducks flying over. When daylight came, nothing.
 
Saturday, we were in a private blind on KY Lake at New Johnsonville. We killed 10 birds, and had 2 or 3 more we should have killed. Sunday, we never fired a shot. But our opening day of 10 was better that the entire 20 field in Camden Bottoms, the combined total for the blinds in that field was 6. A couple of blinds(115 and 116) had a day in the mid 20's, but I didn't hear of anyone doing any better. Those are Saturday numbers, I didn't hear of anyone doing well on Sunday.
 
I enjoyed it thanks for sharing! Those pictures were awesome too, looks like a good spot. Pictures, videos, stories, and especially being in a swamp hunting them myself this past weekend makes me wonder why in the world I couldn't have got into it sooner. Better late than never I guess but I wish I had as many years of duck hunting under my belt as I do other species and wish I knew other duck hunters. I enjoy the posts and pictures you all share, keep them coming!

I read the article anyway as in some things I'm a not conformer. I felt the pain myself and thanks for sharing the article. 3 years ago I drew T5 and was real excited, until we arrived after driving 6 hours, booking three nights in the hotel then having 15 birds fly over about the whole weekend. Didn't have layout blinds as I had no clue or information of what I was facing. Took my two sons and a friend and his son. Nearly no water and saw 100's of ducks on T7 & T8 that were only hunted one day between them. Under the rules we could not move over there as the parties had RSVP'ed to the TWRA, but didn't hunt them for some reason. IMO having to quit hunting at 3 PM is beyond ridiculous in my opinion especially when hunting is restricted to only 4 days of a week. I should have wiped out another two days to drive up and just look around. But as work was for me I couldn't.

I'm very dissatisfied how the TWRA handles the whole state for drawing blinds 6 years ago I drove up for the Hand Held madness. What local scam that seems to be. Saw a drawn blind sold after a name of a kid was called. Put a real bad taste in my mouth. I think this system needs to shaken up and changed so taxpayers and hunters like myself have a chance to draw a decent public hunt. If I drew one I could only afford to hunt maybe 10 days a year so any drawn permanent blind would go mostly un-hunted most of the season. Which that would not bother me. Tennessee keeps jacking the price of the outdoors, becoming more restrictive and mismanaging the WMA's IMHO. Guess that's why a large majority of guys are traveling to other bordering states and having better quality hunts.
