I figured I would wait into September to plant. Now in our 10 day forecast our best chance for rain is only 40 percent. I have 300 pounds of grains and 40 pounds of various clovers to get in the ground but dangit we dont get rain anymore. I dont know whether to plant this weekend and hope for the best or what. Id hate to have to do it durng deer season.
 
I would go ahead and plant, at this time of the year ground moisture will go a long way towards germinating your seed.

10 days is a long way out... anything can happen. If you don't want to plant during the season (good avantages for young tender growth in nov.) go ahead now. With the storms coming across the atlantic anything is possible. Nature will take of it. When something like that happens I just try and tell myself "No need to worry about things I can not change".
 
You can plant most seed up into October. I know that conflicts with some of archery season but I didn't get to plant until the second week in October last year and our plots did very well.

Steven, we planted last weekend and may not get much rain at all. And you know very well the condition of the soil we are dealing with. I think with the cooler nights and mornings the soil moisture will help the seeds to germinate. It may be a costly mistake, and a waste of money. We'll see. ;)
