Anyone that knows me knows i'm not a "trophy" hunter. Don't get me wrong I love a nice set of antlers as much as the next hunter and have been lucky enough to kill my fair share but my goal each year is to kill a decent buck or two. My land here in East Tn. is all wooded, there is zero agriculture for many many, many miles. My 60 acres is surrounded by other smaller properties and gets a lot of hunting pressure. Bucks over 2.5 years old are as rare as hens teeth, but I do see and kill one every once in awhile. Our deer density is low compared to other parts of the state and I very seldom want to kill a doe in hopes of our deer herd growing. I got lucky and killed a decent 8 pointer on the next to last day of Archery season and figured that would be my one and only deer for the season.
Yesterday morning I got lucky once again, after sitting for four hours with no deer seen I figured that was it and started to lower my M/L to the ground when I heard that tell tale rustling in the leaves of a deer coming my way. I pulled my rifle up, put a primer on just in time to see this buck coming my way. He was quartering slightly to me and as soon as I had a shot I took it. The rest as they say is history, when the smoke cleared he was lying on the ground. Not my best buck by a long shot but I feel blessed and very happy to have him.
I'm done for the year, but hopefully will spend some time with my Grandson in the shooting house during the rifle season.

Thanks Mike, that's my front yard. [such as it is]. We've lived out here in the "boonies" for 15 years and love it.
It's been a tradition of ours to always take a pic in front of the fence for many years.
Thanks for the compliment, and yes, I returned to the "crime scene] the next day...................i'm a weirdo, lol.
