I thought so too but it makes me wonder. because I have never tried it. Those were common carp, not buffalo like he said.
 
I think he shoulda taken them out about 10 hours ago lol. Look like they're a bit on the over-done side.
I've heard they aint bad.

They do look a little burnt...I don't know anything about smoking fish but I know smoked salmon is awesome.
 
lol...all the romanians i work with go nutz over carp,and that pic i posted of the big ole boy was probably from europe cause they brag about them alot i bet they could tell me about smoking some carp,i dont know if id be interested in trying it but im gonna ask them see what they say i bet the go spastic when i mention it !!
 
I'm with Rackseeker...though I wouldn't mind trying some rainbow trout smoked like that.
 
1- I've eaten smoked carp-excellent.
2- Typical Yankee :) smoked them about 10-hours too long. Now he does have buffalo carp-carp smoked so long, they are tough as buffalo hide and have no falvor except hickory. Could have saved himself a lot of time and just eaten some shaggy bark hickory.

I have eaten smoked common carp and thought it was just kinda ok, not bad but not real good. The bones were still plentiful!

Fishermen pay $$$$$$$$$ to go catch "sportfish" they will never eat and release. Bonefish, trout, Bass, tarpon, barracuda, sailfish.... the list is long.

So catman enjoys the challenge of tricking a carp into taking a bait, fighting them on light tackle, and releasing them.

I Don't see the problem.

Thanks, at least someone understands. Most people here have never put a jig or a fly in front of a carp, or used canned corn on light tackle to catch 15+ pounders, yet they act like carp are trash and not worth fishing for.
 
Skippies on 4 lb test are a hoot too. Miniature fresh water tarpon.

You want a tackle smasher, find some jack crevalle in salt water and hook up on light line. A 2 lb jack will fight like a 15lb game fish and they dont give up after 1 or 2 runs like most game fish.

Wait you don't eat trout? or bass? well I usually try to catch what I will eat which is why I go after catfish, bass, crappie, bream, and drum. Occasionally a carp or gar will snag my line and I enjoy the fight but I throw the carp and gar back. When I can though I'll go to Arkansas to the little Red and eat the crap out of trout.

That was the point.
People rag on catman for catching carp which in their mind is a trash fish. Yet, they spend lots of time and money catching game fish that are just as often released.

So whats the difference? Catch and release a 15lb carp, catch and release a 5 lb bass. Either way you spent time on the water, had a fight, and released a fish to fight again.
 
^ that is what sport fishing is about, or should be about... None of this trash fish vs game fish crap, if you don't want to catch a certain fish then that's fine but doesn't make it trash. Only thing I've caught that I sometimes consider trash is a turtle because it's not a fish, most of them don't fight hard, and I almost always lose or break my hook on them.
 
well then crap is the smartest and hardest fighting fish I have caught, not bad for a big turd. I will keep fishing for them while you keep fishing for smallmouth. Speaking of which, I may go wading on Wednesday for smallies myself, and then in the evening set up a lawn chair, a camp fire, and 3 or 4 lines with corn and fish the night for carp. It is very relaxing after a day of wading and casting soft plastics over and over again.
