Photo #1... Daytime... this extremely muscular doe show up the other day. I say doe because she has the classic round nogging and doesn't appear to have any male features.

Photo #2... Nightime.... Different "doe" with a very large body. I had a few different pics of her feeding and no evidence this is a male that has dropped antlers. But if you had a dissenting opinion, I'm all ears.

Deer really "fluff" themselves up in very cold temperatures. Look at the temp on the camera, low 20s.

When assessing buck age on trail-cams, I note pictures taken when temps are in the low 20s. Bucks will look much "beefier"/older in those temps.

That buck appears to be a tank! Hate he dropped them early. There's plenty of food around. 70 acre cornfield next to us. 2 acres of foodplots with 6-12" greens.

He doesn't look like he's hurting for food

Pic #1 Is a mature doe that's really healthy and has packed on the Winter fat. You can tell by her facial features (narrow short snout, head size, etc..).
Pic #2 Is a big mature buck for sure that's already shed is horns, which does seem really early for that but I've heard of older mature bucks shedding their horns much earlier than younger bucks. Maybe the unusual colder temp's this year in our area have sped up the shedding process for the mature bucks.
