Should be taken care of (if I did it correctly) .. We do not need or want that here for sure.

Please though folks: Do not send $ to ppl you can't verify as reliable - it's not a winning bet.
I want to know how we can ban you from the classifieds as well. You make the ol' Thou Shall Not Covet a thorn in my side

It's unreal how good the scammers have gotten. They took me for $700 3 weeks ago and beyond pissed that it happened. They are scum
, but I am more pissed at myself for letting it happen. They are finding people that have not been on a site for a few days that have good feedback in classified forums. They then take their account over and you think it is someone you have trusted before, they send you a pic of the item and a card with the date and username of seller to make it look legit. That person that their account was taken over doesn't have a clue until a bunch of emails come in all the sudden from the site dm contacts. No more electronic payment for me.

That was on this site ? What site was it on ?

Long Range Hunting for me but they are doing the same thing on all outdoors sites that have classifieds. For the past month it has gotten a lot worse. That damn international scammer even went so far as giving me positive feedback for the transaction he stole using the original guy's account. You know them SOB's laughed their arse off at me😠…..

And that's just how bad it can be. We all know ol'Dave here from years and I would trust him. But let's say ol' Dave got on here and posted he was going on vacation for a week, scammer sees that, thinks he won't be on here for a while and hacks his account. He posts an item on classifieds ( as Dave now mind you) and I want it and ask "Dave" how he wants to be paid They always want electronic form so they give me a PP or Zelle address to send to (not Dave's, but I don't know that as I think I am communicating with Dave). Send the money and you screwed…….don't care if it was PP as G&S……you ain't getting it.

Check and a phone call for me anymore.

I was scared that I got hit the other day on a scope from Tac swap. Guy ghosted my messages and no reply pretty much after I sent the money but it did eventually show up. Let's say it has me a bit gun shy on sending money across the country.

If someone is silly enough to send a money order to someone for an item in 2026… they deserve to be scammed.

There has never been a an easier time to verify and item and a buyer/seller.

Ask for pics, ask for them to include something in the pic "send me a pic of the scope and hold up three fingers in it" etc.

Lord, yall like the old folks going to western union to wire money to a Nigerian prince in need…
Dude did put a picture with the date and tndeer name

That is why I chose money order to get him to give me his address

Then google took care of the rest

It's been a few yrs.. but I've bought huntin clothes, knives, scopes, rifles, shotguns and pistols off 24hrCampfire.. nothing but PM's often. If it was expensive I'd do a phone call - research number and address and name etc. All went well .. but things appear to have gotten really ugly the last few yrs.

good deal. ive never had a single bad experience with a tndeer seller or buyer but i know there have been a few- which weren't real tndeer members

We also need to watch for accounts that have been dormant for a good while that suddenly become active. The scammers will hack those accounts to use for their scams, making it look like we are dealing with a longtime member.
Very true

Man that sucks. That's hard earned money gone. I always deal face to face. Sorry that happened to you.

Over a year ago, had a fellow on this site request that I ship the item to him in west TN before he sent payment. He had been on the site for some time and the item wasn't over $200 in value so I thought about it. When I decided that I just didn't feel good about it, he sent me a nasty pm that basically I'm a bad person, etc. My reply was: I'll have you know that I've given away more items, knowledge and physical help on this site that I have ever sold here. I don't think you would ship to me the same way so I'm gonna bow out of this deal. I've never seen him on the site since.

There's a handful of folks on here that I would ship it to them like that, and you are one of them. @MUP is close enough that I wouldn't have to ship it. 😁

I have sold a few things in the past… I have bought several things from members on here over the years. I have never had a single problem with anyone buying FtF or shipping/sending money. But I also use caution when dealing with anyone who isn't a regular. My peeps on here know how I roll and if something shady happens under my name, I will find out about it I'm sure.
