It's been years since I fished there. Has anyone else on here ? Back then it was flys/spinner/spoon only. I found a couple holes that were loaded with trout and a limit was easy to come by each time.

It was some type of management area we had to buy a permit along with licence back then.

It is near Elizabethton. Very nice trail followed the creek off the mountian. I understood it was on part of the Appalachian trail and was a resupply route off the main trail into town. It was a great spot. I heard the name Roan mountain metioned by the guys I fished with there. We fished there several times and I only recall seeing one other person that was not in our group.
 
ok. that's probably north cherokee but i can find nothing about it in the fishing guide. i have never been on north cherokee.
 
I live here and I'm not familiar with a "Doe Run" we have a Doe river and little Doe river in Carter county that is fed by all the streams that come off of Roan Mt. We have a Doe Creek in Johnson County in a community called Doeville. There are quite a few places that have Doe in the title. Do you remember what county you were in. I fish most of the upper watershed of North Cherokee area maybe I can point you in the right direction. All the areas mentioned are close to Elizabethton and the AT is close by. To me what your describing sounds like Laurel Creek in the Denis Cove area above Hampton Tn. and that feeds the Doe River The App. trail follows this creek off the mountain.
 
That may be the place. We visit some friends in Kingsport and they took us there and thier dad called it Doe Run. I do remember going up a quite large hill and looking down on Elizabethton where we bought licence and permits then down into a valley to a parking lot. Fished upstream from there. One of the places you passed thru on the trail was called Frog Level. Creek had some log foot bridges in place for a while then it was get your feet wet time. Sure was some cold water...LOL.

Thought many a time about going back but not sure my body could make that hike again to the good spot I found.
